Audacy Chicago Vice President of Programming and Operations Greg Solk will step down from that role at the end of the month and move into a new role as Head of Brand Strategy for the company’s six stations in the market.
Solk joined the cluster as cluster Operations Manager and Program Director of AAA 93.1 WXRT and then-Classic Hits “104.3 K-Hits” WJMK in February 2017 and moved into his current role in July 2021. He previously was Senior VP of Programming for Hubbard Radio from 2011 to 2016 and previously held that title for Bonneville before Hubbard purchased multiple markets from the company. Outside of two years as PD of AAA 104.5 KFOG San Francisco in the early 1990s, Solk’s entire career has been spent in Chicago where he started as an intern at 97.9 WLUP and eventually served as VP/Programming of that station and “97.1 The Drive” WDRV, which he was instrumental in launching.
In a memo to staff, Audacy Regional President Rachel Williamson wrote, “Greg will continue to work one-on-one with our six Brand Managers to help drive brand strategy and on-air programming excellence. As Greg requested, he will relinquish his operational managerial duties and our Brand Managers and Director of Technical Operations again will report directly to me.” She noted that Solk wished to step back from his operations roles, while continuing to remain part of the the programming team.
